Amaro Lucano was created in 1894 by Cavalier Pasquale Vena in Pisticci, Basilicata, from a secret recipe that has been handed down in the family from generation to generation. Complex and traditional, it is both a bar staple and a great place to start when embarking on your amaro journey.
Thanks to the skillful blend of more than 30 herbs, it has a decisive taste that is perfect for all occasions. Well balanced, bitter but not overly harsh or medicinal, with distinct citrus and floral notes. It can be enjoyed neat, chilled, with ice or orange zest. Perfect also as a base for cocktails.
“Cinnamon, cardamom and a hint of red fruit create a lightly spiced aroma. The palate echoes the sweetness and spice, framed by red fruit, plum and plum skin, and blackcurrant, finishing slightly sticky with a hint of espresso. Faint menthol refreshes the exhale. A good workhorse for cocktail mixing.” 93 Points Wine Enthusiast
