“The quintessence of time, an assemblage of venerable eaux-de-vie and savoir-faire inherited from ten successive generations of Ferrand and perfected by Alexandre Gabriel, Ferrand Cognac Master Blender for more than 30 years.
The oldest and rarest reserves from our House, elevated from our Chai Paradis in the cellar of the Ferrand manor house built in 1861. The most prestigious cru of cognac there is. 100% Grande Champagne, Premier Cru de Cognac.
Perfected in a zebra barrel. Before it is bottled, the precious Légendaire assemblage reposes in a zebra cask. We gradually replace some of hundred-year-old staves with new ones in this wood barrel, gracing the cognac with subtle tannins and preserving its elegance.
An awe-inspiring vessel. Légendaire is presented in a distinctive crystal decanter created by French crystal maker Waltersperger, nestled in a carved wood box evoking the front door of Mademoiselle Manor.
A once in a lifetime experience for each fortunate owner of a Légendaire decanter: we take them on a custom, private journey through the historic Chai Paradis and fascinating 19th century Ferrand family manor, a world of wonder frozen in time.
Nose: It starts on a very traditional rancio profile with chocolate, plum, sandalwood, tobacco, and nutmeg. It then evolves on a very floral profile of dried rose, jasmine, and saffron with delicious notes of passionfruit and old Colheita port wine with an elegant woody background of cedar and walnut.
Palate: Creamy and full, it follows the impressions of the nose with spicier and woodier notes such as pepper, cloves, cardamom, and paprika, all coated in toffee, almond, vanilla, and acacia honey. It then evolves to a fruitier profile with mandarin, blackberry and hawthorn while oak moss, cocoa and frankincense increase the sensation of depth.
Finish: Lingering, the very old rancio style extends to a repertoire that is both classic, featuring leather, hazelnut, cinnamon and licorice, and original, revealing gooseberry, cantaloupe and honeysuckle.”
“A combination of eaux-de-vie and savoir-faire from Ferrand’s historic stocks, specially selected and blended by master blender Alexandre Gabriel. Aromas of milk chocolate, plums, tobacco, nutmeg and dried rose fill the nose, alongside hints of walnut and passion fruit. The palate offers notes of pepper, clove and cardamom, as well as toffee, vanilla, honey, orange and blackberry, with hints of dark chocolate lingering in the finish.”
