This small, family run producer is located in the town of Moussy on the edge of the Côtes des Blancs. Their various vineyard parcels total just 6 hectares (just under 15 acres) from which less than 4,000 cases of champagne are made a year. They make crisp blanc de blancs primarily with grand cru grapes from the villages Cramant, Oiry and Chouilly. Even with extended aging on the lees, these bubblies retain plenty of finesse. A Charles Neal Selection
“The Ruelle-Pertois NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvee de Reserve leads with a delightful nose of peony, apple blossom, lime, grapefruit, and apricot, which presage the character of a juicy, brightly citric, yet at the same time subtly creamily textured palate. A faint bite and muskiness of rose radish combines with light chew of apple skin and piquancy of lemon rind for invigoration, while a salinity that was enhanced a day after opening serves to milk the salivary glands in a sustained finish. . . . .Enjoy this excellent value in Champagne over the next couple of years.” Robert Parker 91 Points
