“The 2021 Sandler Bien Nacido Vineyard Pinot Noir is the first wine we’ve made from this site since the excellent 2017. ’21 was a smaller than average crop at Bien Nacido in Block F, and we brought in 2.3 tons of Wadenswil and Pommard Pinot Noir. The extended hang time produced the ripest fruit we’ve received since our inaugural vintage of 2010.
The dense purple color is unusually dark for a Sandler Pinot. There is plenty of berry fruit in the nose that is surrounded by the cool-climate aromas of the Santa Maria Valley appellation. Refreshing acidity on the palate keeps the ripeness in check and balances out the wine beautifully. Drink this from 2022 through 2032.”
