As translated from the Italian. . . “Hydro alcoholic infusion of génépy for a month and aging in steel for 6 months.
The history of OTTOZ liqueurs began in 1875, when, the young Laurent, founder of the company, like many of his peers, emigrated to France at the tender age of eight years, here he approached the world of spirits working in a transalpine distillery. In the following years in Marsiglia, in the district of the old port, opened the famous “Cafè des Alpins” from here supplied the district with its liqueurs.
He returned to his homeland in 1902, and in the centre of Aosta bought a coffee bar where he started producing Genepy, known and sold as Alpine Liqueur Elixir Genepy. With great skill in the advertising campaign and in the promotion of his product, he succeeded in making his brand known throughout Italy. For many years the OTTOZ genepy was therefore the only symbol of the typical Aosta Valley’s product for those who loved our valley.
In 2005 he officially became part of the big family of the Distillerie St.Roch based in Quart. Here in a reality more and more attentive to innovation and to the bond with the territory, they work uninterruptedly a very high quality discontinuous alembic, technologically controlled, together with some new machinery for the bottling.
Tradition, innovation and bond with the territory this is the goal of the distillery at the gates of the city of Aosta, because innovation is not a break with the past but comes from the ability to know how to translate the wisdom of our ancestors into everyday life.
The flagship products of the company today are the Ebo Lebo Gran Riserva, an innovation of the famous digester of mother in law from Aosta Valley, with the addition of an infusion of Saffron and Genepy produced entirely in the fields of the Azienda Agricola Rosset Terroir in Aosta Valley, followed by Elixir Genepy Centenario, a Genepy based on Artemisia Genipi (Genepi male).”
